Manchil IPM Services provides an insect and
disease monitoring service for most horticultural crops. Depending on their location,
farms can be monitored weekly, fortnightly or monthly. IPM technicians monitor crops by
checking leaves, fruits, flowers and stems for beneficials and pests. Once the farm has
been monitored a printed report is provided to the grower showing details of pest and
beneficial percentages, along with comments and recommended control actions - which may
include chemical selection or biocontrol options.
Some field crops like lettuce, tomatoes and capsicums are monitored for pests but at this stage they do not receive any beneficials. Carnations are the only greenhouse crop that do not use beneficial insects.
